This project was one that stayed close to home in every sense. Designed for Tristan Gary’s own mother, it’s rooted in family, memory, and a deep respect for the home’s historic past. Built in 1908, the kitchen was carefully reworked to feel original to the home - an intentional departure from anything overly new, polished, or far too white - where character is often lost.
The space planning was complex, requiring a thoughtful reworking of the home’s footprint. By absorbing an adjacent pantry, laundry room, and unfinished porch, the kitchen expands seamlessly within the existing architecture…never competing with it, only supporting how the home has always been…a place for connection.
Every decision was made with restraint, honoring what was already there rather than replacing it.
